La-La Land Inspiration Monday-Make your own paper/chipboard embellies

Good Monday Morning everyone! It's me again with another Inspiration Monday for you. Every Monday and Friday La-La Land Crafts Design Team will bring you a new inspirational theme. We would love for you to play along with us. All you have to do is link your projects using a La-La Land Crafts image to our Customer Gallery.

This week we challenge you to make your own paper/chipboard embellishments.

Before I start with my Inspiration post, I would like to remind you about some activities that are happening on our La-La Land Crafts Blog right now!!

To celebrate Marci and Luka's First Birthday, we have a CARD CONTEST going on at the La-La Land Crafts Blog!! The winner gets to take home a set of 36 Copic Markers.....WOWZERS!! This is something that you can't afford to miss!!
Don't have a blog? You can upload a photo of your card to any photo sharing website (i.e. Photobucket or Flickr) and then copy and paste that link to the La-La Land Blog.
Don't have a Marci or Luka Stamp? You can purchase a digital image from the store so you can start your birthday card/project right away!!
For more details click HERE.

We also have a FACEBOOK Contest for a chance to WIN TWO RUBBER STAMPS of your choice!! To enter, all you need to do is ask your friends to join the La-La Land Crafts Facebook Fan page and tell us in their comments that you sent them. The person with the most referrals wins!! Just like that.... EASY PEASY!! For more details please click HERE.

Now on to Inspiration Monday...making your own paper/chipboard embellies! As many of you know, embellishments can get pretty pricey. What better way to save some extra dollars than to make your own embellishments. There are so many tutorials and YouTube videos out there that walk you step-by-step on how to make your own paper roses, flowers, buttons, etc. Crafters & Technology are an AWESOME combination, aren't they?!

I used the adorable Scout Marci for my Inspiration this week. Isn't she sweet with that little butterfly resting on her hand?! Those of you with brownies/girl scouts and cub/boy scouts know how difficult it is to find these types of images.
Irina did a fabulous job creating these cuties so be sure to head on over to the store and snag one for yourself! We even have some images as digital files for immediate gratification!!

Coloring Medium: Copics & Chalk
Skin: E000 & chalk
Lips: R20
Hair: E29, E37, E33
Shirt & Shoes: E31 & chalk
Skirt: G21 & chalk
Sash: G24, chalk, Y02, R27, G28, BV08, B04, YR23, R20
Butterfly: B04, G21, YR04, Y02, BV08, Stickles
My handmade paper embellishments are the carnation, rolled roses, and butterflies. For the carnation, I layered several scalloped circles on top of each other. I spritzed each circle with water and placed a brad in the center. Then I just started scrunching each circle layer towards the middle. Once it dried, I opened up the layers a little and covered them with Stickles.

For the rolled roses, I cut a large circle (can't remember what size now) with scalloped edged scissors (yeah, I went old school, haha!). You draw a spiral circle toward the middle and cut along the lines. Then you roll it starting from the outside edge. You can find all sorts of tutorials online if you just do a search for rolled roses. Again, I covered the edges with Stickles.

The butterflies were double punched using a Martha Stewart punch. I glued the bodies together and raised up the wings. I also covered them in Stickles.

The dps are from The Paper Studio Affinity paper pack. The roses and carnation were made using CTMH paper. I love that their paper has designs on the front and back side. It makes the flowers/roses prettier when you roll them. I used a white paper doily from my stash. The white and chocolate pearls are also CTMH.

I embossed the sentiment from Heartfelt Creations Classic Message with Stampendous Detail White Embossing Powder.

Now don't forget you can play along and upload your creations to our Customer Gallery.

Head back to the La-La Land Crafts Blog on Friday for more Inspiration from the lovely and talented Team Friday.

Have a wonderful week!

Hugs,
Rosie
